Wearing Clothes in Sauna to Burn of Weight ?
In that UFC Contest show, when the figher competitors are several pounds overweight and need to shed that weight ASAP to meet weight before the match, they would sit in the Sauna for a long time with heavy layered clothing on to try and burn the weight off. Have any of you tried doing this ???
How many pounds would I burn off by sitting in the Sauna for at least 1 hour with heavy layered clothing on ???
You would only be losing water weight which you would have to replenish afterwards by drinking or suffer from dehydration. Athletes use this technique to quickly lose water weight before a weigh-in, which they can easily gain back by drinking water afterwards. The extra heavy clothes are just being used to increase the heat of the sauna. I wouldn’t recommend doing that if the sauna is already set to a high temperature. Also, if you insist on trying this, make sure you have someone supervising you as it can be dangerous.
You won’t be losing "pounds" you will be losing water weight. There is a HUGE difference..these fighters go in there to sweat it out before weigh-ins (I know how this works..my brother is a wrestler too and if he is overweight a few hours before a weigh-in he will put on a sweat suit and a nylon suit on top, run on the treadmill with a heater next to him to sweat it out) You won’t lose fat or anything significant and you might be dehydrated after. Be careful with this.
